Dec 25th, 2010 - "passenger"

I am more fond of these than the other ones.
I think it's important that the pictures I choose all have a solid technical aspect in common.
I want to focus on using the surface of the glass to distort the image behind it.
also the subtleties of what is on the surface of the glass,
something is blocking "reality"
specks of light, un-focused, blurred.

These photos are from Nov. 29th 2010.
I re-edited them last night, I love the black & white.

self portraits.
so far… I've only officially done self portrait sets four times.
the first do I did out of instinct.
I grabbed the camera when something happened to me ...
if I felt overwhelmed with life at the moment and
I used the camera as a tool
it was like therapy for me.
I'm still trying to fit together the pieces
but I know that I mostly do this act when I need to express something.
just like all art I suppose.
every time it's been almost identical.
I sit down,
I seem to gravitate towards my bed for some reason,
I go there because it's safe..
I listen to music, and let whatever happens in front of the camera,
just sort of happen.
I want to continue doing these and I really need to master the art of informing myself…
really knowing what I am doing in front of the camera, and how it will look in the frame.
I have a lot of more questions that need to be answered
& a far way to go from here …
I only hope they will get better!

please, if you could, tell me what you think!
if you have a gmail account you can leave comments .. also a link to my tumblr is on the top and you can message me through that!

ask me anything <----- can also send comments through this link : )

new year.

This last one was my first photo taken in the new year.
hurrah
it didn't really go with the set too much,
but I felt like I should add it
other than that one I really like the set I think it all flows nicely
& I love the simplicities of it.

The first photo
is taken on my fire escape
of my new apartment
in which I call home…

there is a snow storm happening right now…..
I just took some photos out on my fire escape
I can't wait to see what it's like tomorrow
& if I can even venture out…
but If I can, I am picking up my film!

All taken on Dec 23rd, 2010.

The depth of field is shallow.
allowing the image behind the glass to become blurred
& lets it be about the colors, and shapes.
You can still make out the place that you may be in,
you see signs,
cars,
lights,
trees,
a distinctive hill that may let you know where you are…
seeing through two different planes of glass
along with technical aspects
make the image you are viewing skewed,
in just the slightest of ways.
pay attention to the colors,
that bright orange here,
deep green there.
The subtleties are what matter,
open your eyes to the little things
yet keep your mind on the bigger picture
be able to see the place in which you are.

I finally got internet set up at my apartment where I am currently living in bk.

This set was taken on Nov 27, 2010

Part of my obsession with night, I suppose.

The camera is my tool, I love to use it to document myself, my life in every aspect, and light.
These photos were all taken in my home town over thanksgiving break.
They show the hills I am so fond of.
They combine the movement of the car with the slight camera shake it causes.
a stillness, with a motion.
